Dartford put a run of defeats behind them with a fine 4-2 away win in their Dr Martens Eastern Division match at St Leonards on Monday night.

The Darts got off to a superb start when Lee Guiver scored in the very first minute after a mix-up in the home defence.

And they went two-up after 24 minutes when Roy Godden scored from close rnage after a great run and cross by Mick Morgan.

But St Leonards rallied and a defensive error allowed Tony Read to pull a goal back, and then Nicky O'Callaghan equalised.

But eight minutes from time sub Gavin Rose beat two defenders and the goalkeeper before scoring from the tightest of angles to put the Darts back in front.

Then five minintes from time, Dartford clinched a 4-2 win when Adam Morrish crossed for Chris Arnold to score.

It was a welcome win for the Darts who, on Saturday, had gone down 3-0 at home to second-bottom Sittingbourne.

They had to thank goalkeeper Steve Williams for preventing them from going behind after 24 minutes, when Bradley Spice was through on goal, but the keeper raced out of his goal fast and went down well to block the oncoming forward.

However, the Darts went a goal down on 53 minutes when a rush of blood from Williams saw him pull down a Sittingbourne player and Spice netted the penalty.

Sittingbourne subsitute Tom Ganley should have doubled the score on 75 minutes when his shot crashed off the crossbar and away to safety, but a minute later they did when Spice drove in a his low shot from the edge of the area.

Sittingbourne wrapped up a three-nil win when sub Leigh Hales slotted past Steve Williams from close range with his first touch.
