Massive victories for unbeaten teams

First division Nuthouse travelled to Just Bellegrove and it was the home side that got off to the better start with Lewis Brind, Mark Porter and Richard Marsh all winning to give them a, 3-1 lead. 

Louis Wilbourne won the fifth frame to bring it back to, 3-2 and that kick started the massacre, as Nuthouse won eleven frames on the bounce to win the match, 12-3. 

After winning in the first set, Brind faced Trevor Biggs in the second and third, with Biggs triumphant both times for an unbeaten brace. 

It was an excellent all-round team performance, with Zoe Healy joining Biggs on two unbeaten frames, Jon Syta winning his only frame and Wilbourne and Danny Kent scoring hat-tricks, with Wilbourne’s including a break and dish in the second set. 

Just Bellegrove are now second from bottom and despite this amazing victory and their unbeaten run, Nuthouse are only second in the table, three points behind Pickwick. 

They started poorly, losing the first three frames against New Eltham New Stars and were playing catch up for the rest of the night. 

However, they did come back and at six all Paul Durrance, on debut broke and dished to give Pickwick the lead which they never surrendered.

Pickwick were indebted to Dave Pile, who recorded a hat-trick and Paul Slater with two wins out of two to help them to their, 8-7 vicctory. 

New Stars’ Dave Jandu kept up his fine form with another three frame wins, to keep his team in the reckoning, in fourth place, six points behind their opponents. 

Three points ahead of New Stars and on the same points as Nuthouse are Eltham Terrace Rack Pack, after they beat Bellegrove A, 9-6 this week. 

Dean Rider won all three of his frames, for the second week running and was backed up by Captain, Steve Unwin, who was unbeaten with two frame wins, to help keep their team three places and eight points above their opponents. 

Rugrats Guardians are still winless at the bottom of the table and they did themselves no favours when they played Fox & Hounds with only four players. 

However, Guardians did well when the first two frames were shared, but Glenn Ward and Clive Forrest won the next two frames to give Fox the set, before Martin Hart pulled it back to, 3-2. 

The majority of the damage was done in the second set, with Fox whitewashing it and they went on to win the first two frames of the third set to win seven frames on the bounce, to make it, 10-2. 

Luke Matthews won his second frame of the night to prevent another set whitewash, before Kerry Wyatt and Forrest won the last two frames to complete the, 12-3 thrashing. 

Fox ended the night with three unbeaten players, Tom Wyatt who won his only frame and Forrest and Alan Dolan both scoring three out of three. 

Fox now sit in fifth, two places and seven points ahead of Falconwood Club, who made it two wins in a row this week, with an, 11-4 triumph over Academicals. 

After winning the first game of the season, Academicals are struggling for form, with only Shane Huttley, on two out of three and Paul Doherty recording an unbeaten brace, troubling the scorers. 

This result means that Falconwood leapfrog their opponents by three points, going into seventh. 

Allstars and Hotshots are still unbeaten and are the front runners in the SLKPA Premier Division and it looks like it might stay that way until at least the mid-point of the season, as they don’t play each other until league week nine, as they both recorded, 12-3 triumphs this week. 

Hotshots were triumphant against The Fox, who had only lost one match so far this season, so the margin of victory was surprising. 

Allstars played Sharks and were too strong in the first set, whitewashing it, 5-0.

 Tony Griffin and Rahat Munim won the first two frames of the second set for Sharks to pull it back to, 5-2. however, Allstars won the last three frames of the set, for the set and an unassailable, 8-2 lead. 

Ritchie Mitchell, Stacy Redman and Jamie Simmons made it six in a row to pile on the misery for Sharks, with an, 11-2 lead. 

Eno Idiong prevented the third set whitewash, before Tony Halpin won the last frame, making the final score, 12-3. 

Despite the large margin of victory, there was only three unbeaten players, Redman who won his only frame and Simmons and Halpin both recording three out of three. 

With the top two winning by the same score, the difference between the two is still nine points, but somewhat surprisingly, Bellegrove find themselves in third, seven points behind Hotshots. 

This was a difficult match against Rugrats, with no more than one frame between the two sides all night, but it was a better performance from Bellegrove this week and they felt they should have had more frames, with Rugrats having the run of the green in several frames. 

None the less Bellegrove were more than happy to get the win from, 7-6 down after Kieran Evans and Barry Barham won the last two frames to win the match, 8-7. 

Barham’s win was his second of the night to leave him on an unbeaten brace. 

Three points behind Bellegrove in fourth are Bull Tavern, after they recorded a massive, 11-4 triumph over Eltham Terrace Club A. 

This was another surprising result considering Terrace were two points ahead of Bull going into this match but are now five points and two places behind them. 

The final match in the division was between the two newly promoted sides, Rose Inn and Crayford A, both playing in the top division for the first time. 

The two teams were looking for their first win of the season and it was Crayford who narrowly edged it, 8-7 to go two points ahead of their opponents. 

New Eltham New Boys recorded their own massive, 12-3 victory against Anglesea Arms to retake the top spot in SLKPA Division Two. 

Anglesea’s sister side, Sea the Angles had better fortune against the league’s newest team, Farmhouse. 

Sea the Angles did the damage in the first set, with Claire Stork, Reece Stewart, Angie Hobbs and Dan Brown all winning to give their team a, 4-1 lead. 

The second set was much closer, with Farmhouse just nicking it, 3-2 to reduce the deficit to, 6-4. 

Farmhouse then won three of the first four frames of the last set to send the match into a final frame decider, which Sea the Angles Captain, Hobbs won to give her side the, 8-7 triumph. 

Hobbs led from the front, winning both her frames, as did teammate Brown. 

Sea the Angles are now in second, four points behind New Boys, whilst Farmhouse are languishing at the bottom, five points adrift. 

The race for promotion from this division is going to be a hot one, as just five points separate the top three teams, even though they all have the same three wins and one loss record.
