Week Two of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance winter season and the top four in the top division have continued their unbeaten runs by winning again this week.

Allstars were in imperious form and have made pole position their own this week, with a massive, 13-2 triumph over Rugrats.

The match was quite close to start with, as the first four frames were shared but that’s where it ended for Rugrats, with Allstars winning all of the remaining eleven frames.

Allstars appeared to be potting for fun, with three break and dishes and three clearances from dry breaks included in those last eleven frame wins.

Having the most fun was Paul Cook, Ritchie Mitchell and Tony Halpin, who scored a hat-trick of hat-tricks and they were supported by Derek Power, winning his only frame and Craig Mallinder also picked up a victory on his debut.

This victory has opened up a four point gap over their nearest rivals, Hotshots after they beat Eltham Terrace Rovers, 9-6 this week.

This was a derby match that had its ups and downs for both teams, with Hotshots taking a, 3-0 lead but Rovers managed to bring it back to, 3-2 by the end of the first set.

The second set also went to and fro and included a break and dish from Toby Bolt in frame eight but Rovers went on to win the set and draw level, for the first time since the beginning of the match, at five all.

Hotshots took the first three frames of the final set for an unassailable lead, finishing the match, 9-6 victors.

To go with his break and dish, Bolt also scored three out of three and Andre Cox was also unbeaten on two frame wins.

Eltham Terrace Club A and New Eltham are tied on seventeen points, after they both won hard fought matches.

Terrace were playing Pickwick and frame ten was the turning point, as Dave Rawlinson performed a break and dish to give Terrace a, 6-4 lead.

Pickwick went on to take the final set, 3-2 but it wasn’t enough to stop Terrace picking up the victory by 8 frames to 7.

Paul Gafa smuggled his way to a hat-trick for Pickwick and Paul Shrimpton also scored three frame wins for Terrace, with Shane Hutley scoring an unbeaten brace.

New Eltham didn’t have it all their own way against Eltham Terrace Nuthouse, as Nuthouse took a, 4-1 lead and they gave New Eltham their one, after Dave Sparey went in off on the black.

It was the second week in a row that New Eltham lost the first set, 4-1 and it would also be the second week in a row that they would come back from that and snatch victory, as they won the next two sets, also by 4 frames to 1 for an overall, 9-6 triumph.

Shane O’Reilly won both of his frames for Nuthouse but New Eltham’s Dec Kelly went one better with a hat-trick, which included a break and dish.

I don’t think Sharks have ever lost two matches in a row but this is their first season in the top division and they are going to find it tough however, they only narrowly missed out this week, going down, 8-7 to Hustlers.

Bexleyheath Working Mans Club look to be the team to beat in SLKPA Division Two, after winning, 11-4 last week, they went one better this week, with a, 12-3 triumph over New Eltham New Boys.

However that wasn’t the biggest win in the division, as New Eltham Social Club trounced Lord Kitchener, 13-2.

They whitewashed the first set, 5-0 but Lord Kitchener looked to be coming back into it in the second, only going down, 3-2, unfortunately for them it was short lived, as New Eltham also whitewashed the final set to complete the annihilation.

Gary Dixon, George Gooden and Mark Pope were all hat-trick heroes for New Eltham, with Dixon still unbeaten for the season.

With New Eltham Social Club just two points behind Bexleyheath, it has made next week’s match between the two an early top of the table battle for the title.

The other match in the division was a bit of a hustle in the Hustlers derby, between Happy Hustlers and Real Hustlers, with Happy Hustlers finishing the happier of the two, winning, 9-6 to send Real Hustlers equal bottom with New Eltham New Boys.

In the SLKPA first division, Crayford Arms and CSC Sorry in Advance played an entertaining match despite the dreadful karaoke/open mic night taking place in the downstairs bar.

No X Factor hopefuls there then, maybe that’s why CSC are apologising?

For the second week running Crayford lost the first frame but raced to a, 5-1 lead, a lead that CSC couldn’t come back from, with Crayford ending up, 11-4 winners.

Hitting all the right notes for Crayford were, stand-in Captain for the night, Akar Necati, winning all three of his frames and Brett Crawley and Harry Lear, both unbeaten with two wins.

Crayford may have thought they’d done enough to hit the top spot but Rose Inn had their own, 11-4 triumph to remain two points above them.

The result was a little harsh on their opponents, Fox & Hounds, as Rose Inn only won the first two sets by the odd frame, 3-2 however, at four all Rose Inn went on to take all of the remaining seven frames.

Despite the large margin of victory, there was only one unbeaten player, Jack Wilson, who won all three of his frames for Rose.

There was another derby match, this time at the Bellegrove, as Bellegrove A played hosts to Just Bellegrove.

It was a tight match with each set being won by the odd frame, 3-2, as Steve Hughes and John Skuza won the deciding frames to give Bellegrove A a, 6-4 lead.

The first two frames of the final set were shared, then Dan Brown won the thirteenth frame to secure the victory for Bellegrove A, before Skuza won his third frame of the night to make the overall score, 9-6.

This result puts Bellegrove A in fourth place, seven points behind New Eltham Club, who this week beat Eltham Terrace Rack Pack by 8 frames to 7, leaving Rack Pack winless but somehow in fifth.
