The South London & Kent Pool Alliance Winter 2017/18 season is drawing to a close, with three decisive matches being played this week, the Founder's Cup Final, the Premier/Division One play-off and the remaining League Cup semi-final.

Eltham Terrace Club A faced fellow Premier Division team Pickwick in the Founder's Cup Final and it was sure to be a tough battle.

The first two frames went one way then the other, as both teams made nervous mistakes but Terrace punished Pickwick after letting them back into both frames, giving them a, 2-0 lead.

The third frame started with a minor tactical battle to decide colours but Paul Gafa eventually made an error and Dave Rawlinson cleared up, to put Terrace three up.

Paul Shrimpton made it four, after Ash Hall pocketed the cue ball off the break and Shrimpton made an excellent clearance.

Martin Storey pulled Pickwick back into the match, taking control of two tactical frames, eventually taking them to reduce the deficit to, 4-2.

That went down to, 4-3 when Ben McIntosh ran out of position while clearing and Gafa stepped in to finish.

Billy Levingbird missed the opportunity to tie the match when he failed to pot a regulation black, after clearing his yellows under pressure and Rawlinson made it two from two.

Mark Eldridge extended Terrace's lead to, 6-3 with a superb break and dish.

A battle for supremacy ensued between Hall and Shrimpton and after Hall missed his penultimate colour, Shrimpton cleared up to make it, 7-3 at the end of the second set, leaving Terrace one away from victory.

Unusually for him, especially given the match situation, Gafa went for it in frame eleven but it was not to be and, fittingly Terrace Captain, Ron Brown cleared up to give his team the, 8-3 triumph and the cup.

After the disappointment of the first two frames, Pickwick never really got a foothold in the match and in the end Terrace were just too strong.

Hustlers A of the Premier Division faced Division One's Rose Inn to see who would be playing top flight pool next winter season.

The first two frames went to the Premier Division side but Rose Inn rallied and rattled off the next four on the spin, to go, 4-2 up and an upset was on the cards.

However this kicked Hustlers into action and they won the next six in a row to win the match, 8-4 and secure their Premier Division status for another year.

Crayford Social Club Rugrats were eagerly awaiting the outcome of the match between Bellegrove Flyers and Eltham Terrace Rack Pack, to see who they would be playing in the League Cup Final.

Despite Rack Pack being the higher ranked team, Bellegrove were flying high, after their terrific season and this showed as they steamrollered their opponents, 8-1 to breeze into the final.

Next week's final should be an interesting battle, with both teams winning promotion from their respective divisions and Flyers are going for a league and cup double.
