Bellegrove Flyers have been riding high at the top of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance Division Two, unbeaten for six weeks but finally they have been toppled, by the team in second place, New Eltham Social Club.

Everything looked to be going in Flyers' favour, as they took a, 5-2 lead but New Eltham took two of the remaining three frames in set two, to reduce the deficit to, 6-4.

New Eltham went on to win the final set by 4 frames to 1, to narrowly win the match, 8-7 and inflict the first defeat of the season on the Flyers.

Richard Marsh was on top form for Flyers, winning all three of his frames and he was supported by Mark Kelley, scoring two out of three.

New Eltham Captain, Jeff Bailey couldn't have asked for more from his players, especially Shane Burnett, who was again outstanding for his unbeaten hat-trick and Jamie Phillips joined Bailey on two out of three.

This result reduces the gap between the two teams to just five points, with New Eltham nine points ahead of North Heath Social Club.

This week they played bottom of the table Happy Hustlers but North Heath didn't have it all their own way, with the first two sets going down to a final frame decider.

Unfortunately Jade Holmes faced Ian Stringer and Paul Baker and they both cleared up to give North Heath the set and a, 6-4 lead going into the final set.

Hustlers could not hold up their resistance, losing the first four frames before Matthew Prince secured the final frame, his third of the night, giving North Heath the, 10-5 triumph overall.

George Evans-Vine played some good pool on his debut but was unfortunate not to score a frame, with Angie Hobbs and Donna Mullins securing Hustlers other two frames.

For North Heath there were two unbeaten players, Paul Baker with a brace and Ian Stringer on a hat-trick.

In this division's other match, Academicals picked up their third win of the season, 9-6 over Foots Cray Social Club, to go eleven points ahead of them.

Academicals had to fight for this win, going into the final set, 6-4 down they whitewashed it, 5-0 to secure the victory.

Nick Morris was the star of the show for Academicals, winning all three of his frames.

Sharks appear to be swimming away with the SLKPA first division title, opening up a ten point gap at the top, after beating third placed Crayford Social Club Rugrats this week.

It was arguably Sharks closest game of the season, winning it, 9-6 to stay unbeaten for the season and become the only team left in the 23 team league to be so.

The damage was done in the first set, with Sharks taking a, 4-1 lead and they went on to win the second set, 3-2 before Rugrats nicked the final set by the same score.

There was only one unbeaten player on the night, Eno Idiong from Sharks, with two frame wins.

Despite the loss Rugrats climb into second by just one point, as Rose Inn did not play this week.

With Sharks still unbeaten at the top, I'm afraid Bellegrove A are still winless at the bottom but they are getting close, almost making it this week, after going down, 8-7 this week to their closest rivals, CSC Mr's & Miss Q's.

It was a very close match with each set being won by the odd frame, 3-2.

Bellegrove A took a, 2-1 lead in each of the first two sets but CSC fought back, winning both sets to take a, 6-4 lead into the final set.

The last set literally swung one way then the other, with Bellegrove taking the first, third and fifth to take the set but it wasn't enough for the match.

Bellegrove Captain, John Skuza led from the front, winning both his frames but team mate Pat Melia went one better with an unbeaten hat-trick.

There were no unbeaten players for the victors but there were solid performances from Tony Lees, Luke Matthews and James Coomber all winning two of their three frames.

Also finishing, 8-7 was the match between Eltham Terrace Rack Pack and Fox & Hounds but it was very different in the set scores.

The first set was a see-saw battle, which Fox eventually took, 3-2 they then stepped it up and won the second set, 4-1 needing just one frame to win the match.

Rack Pack won the first two frames of the final set to make it, 7-5 but Glen Ward secured the points for Fox before Rack Pack took the last two frames to win the set and make the score a respectable, 8-7 in Fox & Hounds favour.

Ward was the only unbeaten player for Fox, winning both of his frames but Rack Pack's Kevin Atley recorded an unbeaten hat-trick, all from the number five anchor position.

Bellegrove A's sister team from the SLKPA Premier Division, Bellegrove Social Club are also searching for their first win of the season, after being beaten quite heavily, 11-4 by Eltham Terrace Rovers this week.

This victory elevates Rovers back into third from fifth, just one point behind the league leaders.

Hotshots hold onto top spot with a, 9-6 victory over Hustlers A and Bellegrove are also just one point behind them, with a, 10-5 triumph over Eltham Terrace Club A.

The match didn’t start too well for Bellegrove, with Paul Cook going in off on the black in the first frame and Terrace went on to take the first set, 3-2 however, Bellegrove won eight of the next ten frames to win the match.

After his first frame mishap, Cook won his next two frames but Barry Barham went one better, with three out of three.

Bellegrove's Steve Lloyd also won all three of his frames, for the second week running, with this week's including a break and dish.

Hustlers Simply Lovleh leapfrogged Eltham Terrace Nuthouse into fourth, after edging an, 8-7 victory over them.

Nuthouse secured the first set, 3-2 but the Lovleh's tied the match by taking the second set by the same score, despite a break and dish from Louis Wilbourne.

Another break and dish, this time from the Lovleh's Kevin Smith kicked off the last set and they went on to win the next two frames for the match, before Nuthouse took the last two frames for a more respectable score line.

Dave Sparey won his only frame for Nuthouse but Captain, Craig Jones went on and won all three, as did Smith, with his break and dish. There was a massive bottom of the table clash, with second bottom Hustlers B playing hosts to Pickwick, who were one place above them.

It was a scrappy match that ebbed and flowed, reaching five all at the end of the second set, before Hustlers nicked the final set, 3-2 for an overall, 8-7 triumph.

Both sides had a player on an unbeaten hat-trick, Paul Slater for Pickwick and Paul Doherty for Hustlers. This victory lifts Hustlers above Pickwick by just two points in the all Important battle to avoid relegation.
