Excitement is building as the News Shopper-sponsored Maxxis British Moto Cross Championships is set to return to Swanley’s Canada Heights on April 24.

The event marks the second round of the Championship calendar, with Tommy Searle winning both MX1 races in the season opener at Norfolk last month.

However, the Pembury-born star has been pushed all the way by Shaun Simpson and Tanel Leok.

The British Championship is recognised as one of the most competitive domestic Moto Cross championships in the world and has paved the way for World Champions in the past.

The Swanley event, which is run by the Sidcup Motorcycle Cycle Club, will attract the finest motocross riders in the country with some of the British teams fielding international riders who also compete in the World Grand Prix Series.

Sidcup Motorcycle Club have worked hard over the winter to get the infamous venue in top shape and provide spectators with easy access with superb new viewing areas.

The Maxxis British Motocross Championships caters for the MX1 and MX2 classes, while there is also a youth class for upcoming champions.

Spectators can start the day with a free paddock walkabout, where they can meet the riders and get autographs, watch mechanics preparing for the racing, see the bikes checked over in the official testing areas, pick up posters and stickers and sock up the atmosphere.

There is a shopping village where visitors can pick up all things motocross-related, as well as several food stands, a beer tent and children’s entertainment.

Practice commences at 9am, with the first Championship race starting at 12.55am.

Known as one of the most spectacular circuits in England, Canada Heights can be reached by following the AA signposts at junction three of the M25, at the A20 interchange.

Admission for the superb family event is £45 for a family ticket (two adults, two children), £20 for adults, £15 for concessions and £5 for children. Car parking is free.
