Conditions underfoot put paid to this match-up between two sides challenging at the top of the table.
Both sides were bogged down in the mud and there was no prospect of either team playing open flowing rugby.
The hosts managed two tries at the start and at the end, with Matt Cook and Adam Hinds going over. Scott Meakin kicked one conversion and two penalties. Combe’s Joe Simpson kicked one penalty in reply.
In truth the home team had more of the ball, but for the most part were still pressed to make good use of it, or unpick Combe’s defence.
In contrast Combe could not force any way through when they did have possession. Both sides were prone to errors and mistakes, hardly surprising given the conditions.
A muddy stalemate for much of the game, a battle of attrition.
