Tottenham lead the race to sign Ebbsfleet youngster Shilow Tracey, ahead of the likes of Crystal Palace and West Ham, News Shopper understands.

The 17-year-old midfielder spent a brief spell on trial at Spurs in November, where he is believed to have impressed coaches.

After the youngster impressed once again on a tour of the USA with Tottenham’s Academy, the Premier League club are ready to take the plunge and secure his services.

Tracey, who signed his contract at the Fleet last season, enjoyed a solid run in the club’s U18 squad and has attracted the attention of several football league clubs.

Palace, West Ham, Charlton and Bristol City were all said to be keeping tabs on his development at Stonebridge Road, but Spurs have emerged as frontrunners to acquire his signature.

In November, Fleet boss Daryl McMahon told News Shopper: “He’s been absolutely terrific.

“He’s worked ever so hard and he’s committed to the club and he’s committed to improving.

“He’s an excellent young talent and if nothing comes out of it with Spurs, I’m sure he will be featuring in our first team in no time.”

News Shopper understands that talks between Tottenham and the National League South leaders are ongoing with a deal likely to be pushed through.
