DARTFORD’S unbeaten away league run dating back to early October continued at Havant on Saturday with a win which was probably more convincing than the final score suggests.

The visitors found themselves a bit under pressure for a few minutes as Havant & Waterlooville had a shot cleared off the line.

But any early anxiety was short lived, as a surging run by Elliot Bradbrook testified.

With Lee Noble on the right and Danny Harris wide left, Havant were soon compressed in their own half.

Darts turned their pressure into goals around the midway point of the first period.

Another Bradbrook run, starting in his own half saw him stride past half-a-dozen home players and unleash a pile-driver from just inside the area, which beat Lyall Beasely in the Havant goal to put Darts in front.

By now Darts had asserted a mastery which augers well for the games to come.

Havant’s goose was cooked when Bradbrook won possession in midfield and fed Harris, who cheekily executed a delicious lob which cleared Beasely and dropped just under the bar.

The home side enjoyed a short spell of possession just before the break but found Darts too worldly-wise at the back.

Darts resumed control at the start of the second half, but strangely ‘Ville pulled a goal back when, from a rare corner, Scott Jones squeezed an effort over the line following a moment of uncharacteristic defensive hesitation.

No matter, normal service was resumed and the two-goal margin was restored soon afterwards.

Harris raced up the left wing and sent in a searching cross, which was turned away for a right-side corner, from which Harris scored.

The scoring was completed in the final minute when a Noble free-kick out wide left ended up in the back of the hosts’ net, apparently unaided, although a it was declared post-match Bradbrook had got a final touch to the ball.

Dartford are at home to Boston United in the FA Trophy on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
