Carshalton Athletic 2-3 Cray Wanderers This was a tale of two strikers scoring against their former clubs, with Leigh Bremner having the last word for Cray when he netted their dramatic 89th minute winner.

Cray's good early pressure was rewarded by Tommy Whitnell's goal in the 7th minute, and Cray continued to look the better side until Billy Crook levelled for Carshalton five minutes before the interval.

A high-tempo game became more even in the second half, and the lead changed hands when Laurent Hamici, the Wands' top scorer last season, finished strongly to put the Robins ahead on 58 minutes.

Jack Clark dipped in a free-kick, to equalise for the Wands on 71 minutes after a foul on Sam Long, but Hamici had a great chance to restore Carshalton's lead when a penalty was awarded after Michael Kamara was scythed down in the box.

Diving to his right, Cray 'keeper Andy Walker saved the weakly-taken spot-kick, and Cray finished in style to take the three points thanks to Sam Long’s free-kick being tucked into the net by Bremner, who played for the Robins four years ago.

Cray: Walker, Long, Bentley, Day, Vines, Sterling, Whitnell, Perkins, Bremner, Phillips, Clark.

The win at Carshalton was a great bounce-back by Cray after their double disappointment of losing their two home matches at Christmas, by 4-2 against Margate and 4-2 against Concord Rangers.

Defensive errors proved costly for Cray in the Concord Rangers game, with the visitors' Tony Stokes netting a hat-trick. Cray's scorers were Tommy Whitnell (penalty) and Leigh Bremner.

Cray are away to Canvey Island next Saturday (3pm)
