CHARLIE Sheringham is still weighing up a move to Bournemouth ahead of his medical on the south coast tomorrow.

Dartford have already accepted a bid from the League One side and now it is up to the striker whether he accepts the contract on offer, according to Princes Park boss Tony Burman.

He said: “Charlie is having a medical on Thursday.

“Once he has had that then he has got to make his mind up, it is just a case of him saying yes or no.

“I obviously don’t want him to go but for a non-league player to get the opportunity to go pro, for me you’ve got to take that.

“We aren’t asking for stupid money and that is why we have received this offer because we haven’t outpriced him.

“If I did that then players would become unhappy here thinking I was pricing them out of a move.

“When players come to Dartford they know they are in the shop window because we have a lot of scouts come to see our games at Princes Park..

“We know where we want to go and are trying to improve as a club each year. We try to improve every season and encourage the players we have to do the same as well.”

If Sheringham does complete a switch to Bournemouth, his final game in a Dartford shirt would have been last weekend’s 2-1 FA Cup victory at Cray Wanderers.

He didn’t score that day but played his part as Darts came from behind to secure a home derby tie with Bromley on October 29, a draw which excites the manager.

“Over the last few years we’ve had some great games with Bromley,” said Burman.

“It wasn’t that long ago we went to Hayes lane and played them in the FA Cup but went out despite playing very well on teh day.

“I’m pleased we are at home and it always makes it special being a derby.

“There will be a huge crowd and we are all looking forward to it.”

First up, though, is a home league encounter with Conference South new boys Truro City on Saturday.

Burman added: “They’ve had a great start and just dropped away a bit recently.

“Whether that is to do with problems off the field I don’t know but if we don’t take them seriously we will be at risk of losing like we did at Boreham Wood.

“We bounced back well at Cray and now it is up to us to build on that on Saturday against Truro with three points.”

Matt Jones (knee) and Jon Wallis (calf) will both be assessed at training tomorrow before Burman decides whether to involve them in his squad for Saturday’s game, which kicks off at Princes Park at 3pm.
