EBBSFLEET boss Liam Daish wants another three players before the new season kicks off.

But he admits it will depend on finances available to him as he assembles a squad to compete in the Conference again.

“I’m going to need another three players,” explained Daish.

“Whether resources and finances will allow me, I don't know.

“There are some good players out there who will come down to this level, but the squad is too thin.”

The Fleet played out a 2-2 draw at Stonebridge Road against League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday night and Daish was happy with his players performance.

“It was a good workout,” added the gaffer.

“I'm pleased with it, there was some good play, a good tempo and the lads looked fairly fit.

“I'm just a little bit disappointed we didn't close the game out, but it was good entertainment.”

One man on trial with the club is former Charlton Athletic youngster Alex Stavrinou, a player Daish knows well from his previous loan spell last season.

“Alex has come down, he's been on trial at other clubs and he's down with us to see if we can do anything,” said Daish.

“He’s one I know and he’s a good character. He gives us a bit of cover in the centre of midfield too.”

Despite the likes of Crawley Town and AFC Wimbledon gaining promotion from the Conference last season, Daish believes it will be tougher than ever this campaign.

“It’s very hard to judge,” admitted the former Coventry City defender.

“I think it is stronger since we were last here, but saying that, I think we’re in a better position than last time.

“It will depend on how we start off to get a better idea and getting a few injuries back to have a decent squad.

“Everyone can have stronger starting XIs, but you know over a season you need 16, 17 or 18 players.”
