EBBSFLEET United maintained an unbeaten record in pre-season with a draw against Dagenham & Redbridge at Stonebridge Road last night.

Despite the League Two visitors fielding a strong line-up, the two sides were even throughout with Ebbsfleet dominating large periods of the second half.

Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish fielded a strong starting XI and his side started brightly, with Calum Willock and Ricky Shakes both placing headers narrowly off-target.

However, Dagenham took the lead against the run of play in the seventh minute when Gavin Tomlin raced clear of the defence and finished coolly past keeper Joe Welch.

The advantage could have been doubled when Derek Duncan clumsily fouled Medy Elito in the area, but Elito’s penalty was well-saved by Welch, who dived low to his right to palm the effort away.

Willock and Giannoulis Fakinos both had chances to level as Ebbsfleet were unfortunate to go in at half-time still behind.

But the scores were level soon into the second half when Fakinos latched onto Michael West’s lofted pass and was able to round Dagenham keeper Danny Sambridge before slotting in from a tight angle.

The Fleet took the lead a short time later when Willock played a skilful one-two with substitute Liam Enver-Marum before seeing his shot parried by Sambridge into the path of Enver-Marum, who tapped a shot into the net from one yard.

This gave Ebbsfleet the attacking impetus and Enver-Marum went close with a long range drive before Clint Easton rattled the post with a brilliant curling free-kick.

Daggers drew level in the final moments of the game when substitute Damien Scannell burst into the area past two challenges before sliding a pass to substitute Josh Scott to finish from close range.
