WELLING United captain Jack Parkinson is set to commit himself to the Park View Road side after agreeing terms to stay next season.
The highly-rated defender has earned rave reviews after skippering the Wings to within a point of the play-offs and his decision to stick with the club is certain to delight supporters.
He told News Shopper: “The fans have been fantastic this season the way they’ve dug in to help the club and as a player I’m thinking it is only right to give it another go.
“I’m going to see Jamie Day on Wednesday and will be signing then.
“As far as I’m concerned it is a done deal.
“I had a few offers from other clubs but if we can keep the majority of the lads we have from this year I honestly don’t see why we can’t win the title next season.
“Welling is a good club and over the course of the year we’ve assembled a great set of lads.
“I’m hoping the majority will follow me and stay and I’m sure Jamie Day does too because every manager wants to keep hold of his best players.”
