BROMLEY manager Mark Goldberg has called his side “spineless” after the Lillywhites were humiliated 7-0 by Weston-super-Mare on Saturday.

The result was Bromley’s worst defeat in more than quarter of a century and Goldberg apologised to the club’s supporters.

He told News Shopper: “We were spineless on Saturday but there was a much deeper rooted issue behind the result which I am going to sort out quickly.

“I apologise to the fans but I would appreciate it if they didn’t jump to any conclusions on the basis of one result.

“There are some huge games coming up over Christmas and it is my job as the manager to make sure the players respond.

“We don’t want to dwell on what happened too much and all clubs suffer poor results at some stage in the season.

“It is up to us to react positively to this setback, starting against Maidenhead on Saturday.”

Bromley were without influential skipper John Scarborough at Weston following his departure to Boreham Wood, but Danny Hockton returned as part of a 28-day swap which sees Paul Vines head in the opposite direction to Maidstone.

Goldberg explained: “It is an opportunity for Paul Vines to regain his confidence and play with his brother down there.

“He needed a change of environment and it was a mutual decision between the two clubs.

“It is a chance for us to see if Danny Hockton still has the desire and fitness to play at this level.

“As far as I’m concerned it is a win-win situation for Bromley.”
