MARK Goldberg has confirmed striker Nic McDonnell has left Bromley.

McDonnell returned to the club during the summer but has now decided to call time on his football career altogether according to Lillies boss Goldberg.

He revealed: “Nic has work commitments and wants to spend more time working on his cleaning business.

“It is unfortunate for Bromley but he has got to the stage in his football career now where any injury would have a big impact on his business, so we have to respect his decision.

“I’ve signed Leon McKenzie as a straight replacement from Boreham Wood.

“We’ve also signed Harry Harding from Reading on work experience and will see how he gets on before discussing with Reading where to go next.”

Bromley were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by Lewes last night and Goldberg warned his players they must improve quickly if they are to sustain a serious title challenge.

The manager said: “I’m very disappointed with the result because we conceded a very poor goal late on.

“As far as I was concerned the game was won and we’ve got to be smart enough to grind out 1-0 wins when needed, otherwise we can forget about winning this league.

“I want to see a lot more resilience at the back because Lewes had one opportunity gifted to them by our mistake and took it.”

Bromley visit Thurrock on Saturday at 3pm for a league game.
