Bromley 2 v 1 Heybridge Swifts

Ryman Premier

BROMLEY recorded straight win number four with the scalp of another top-four side.

Having beaten Staines Town and Hampton and Richmond recently, the Lillywhites beat Heybridge Swifts thanks to a last-gasp strike from new boy Simon Mitchell.

The atmosphere was subdued as this was the first match since the announcement the management trio would be leaving at the end of the season.

Maybe the crowd was in shock but on the pitch Bromley are on fire, although they could not beat a tough Swifts' defence in the first half.

Barry Gardner, Sam Wood, Des Boateng and Mark Willy all went close with no success while Bromley stopper Andy Walker made a good save to deny Danny Hill.

The deadlock was broken on 59 minutes when Swifts' keeper Paul Nicholls scuffed a back pass and Adrian Stone profited with his eighth goal of the season.

Remy had to go off injured soon after and was replaced by debutant Mitchell, signed from Banstead last week.

Heybridge grabbed their equaliser on 72 minutes through Simon Glover.

Gardner, Boateng and Stone combined to create a chance on the edge of the box but Stone's goal-bound shot deflected off Mitchell and went wide.

Mitchell was then a man on a mission to make up for his unfortunate intervention and he was on hand to smash home the winner when he pounced on Carroll's parried shot in injury time.

The game ended with players and management celebrating with the fans, pleased they had now moved into mid-table and looking up but maybe with a heavy heart.
