DARTFORD put last week's drama firmly behind them with a crucial win in their fight to beat the drop from the Southern League Eastern Division.
Last week manager Tommy Sampson quit his "dream job" because he felt it would best serve the long-term interests of the club.
In the aftermath of the resignation director Tony Burman took charge of first team affairs, and is likely to remain in the post until the end of the season at least. It is a role he has already filled on two previous occasions.
In his first game in charge, Burman saw his side dispose of Wivenhoe Town 2-1 in a keenly contested affair at Stonebridge Road on Saturday.
Darts' first goal of the game was scored by one-time Town target Danny Heale, whose 56th minute shot was too good for Ollie Sanders in the Wivenhoe goal.
Tostao Kwashi, in a rich vein of form, struck for the home side 10 minutes later with a fierce drive that gave Sanders no chance.
Town's consolation was scored by Jack Wignall.
This Saturday, Darts make the short trip to play Erith & Belvedere in a crucial relegation match.
