On-loan striker Marcus Cassius scored a dramatic late winner to give Cray a well-deserved win against second-placed Kingstonian.

The Wands have now won five of their last six, and the confidence of the team was there for all to see as they played Kingstonian off the park with an assured and solid performance.

As the first half came to life after a slow start, Cassius began to cause problems to the Ks defence from wide positions on the left and right.

Cassius saw a shot flash wide after he had cut in from the left, and then with crosses from the right he set up George Porter for a shot that was brilliantly saved by Rob Tolfrey and then a header that Leigh Bremner sent wide.

Cray took the lead on 50 minutes when Jamie Wood's corner-kick from the right was headed back across goal by John Guest, and Bremner reacted quickly to nod home.

There was a golden chance for Cray to extend their lead on 54 minutes when Bremner was felled in the box, but against his former club Colin Luckett slammed the spot-kick against the bar.

Cray kept up the pressure with near misses from Mark Willy and Cassius, and another good save by Tolfrey from Porter.

Kingstonian striker Bobby Traynor showed why he is the Ryman Premier leading goalscorer with a clinical finish on 78 minutes to make the score 1-1 against the run of play.

But Cray's will-to-win saw them fend off a brief period of pressure from the visitors and then launch a decisive attack that saw Cassius round off a fine passing move by drilling the ball past Tolfrey in the 87th minute.

Cray: Kessell, Lover, Luckett, Quinn, Willy, Guest, Porter, Tyne, Cassius (Day 90), Bremner, J Wood.

Cray are at home to Sutton United on Tuesday (7.45pm).
