CRAY earned their elusive first point at home this season in the Ryman Premier with a battling performance against fifth-placed Boreham Wood.

The 1-1 draw moved the Wands out of the bottom four, with goalkeeper Jack Smelt making a superb tip-over save to prevent Leon Hunter from netting a last-minute winner for the visitors.

Dean Green headed Boreham Wood into the lead midway through the first half, but Lewis Wood snapped in the equaliser six minutes later as the Wands hit back with some good spells of football.

The second half saw Cray repel some pressure from the visitors, with Smelt making a flying save and also having some luck when Boreham Wood's Sean Sonner blocked a goalbound shot from one of his own players.

Cray switch to cup action this coming Sunday at home to Burgess Hill Town in the FA Trophy first qualifying round (3pm).
