Cray Wanderers 1-2 Metropolitan Police, Cray couldn't raise their game enough to stop their promotion-chasing rivals Metropolitan Police completing a double over them in Tuesday night's clash at Hayes Lane.

Cray slipped down from second to fourth place in the table after Tommy Whitnell's goal in the 59th minute was insufficient to peg back two goals by the boys in blue during the first half.

Shortly before half time the Wands had blown a chance to get back in the game when Jamie Wood's penalty-kick was saved by the Police goalkeeper.

Cray manager Ian Jenkins acknowledged a flat performance by his team, but he expressed confidence that his players have the quality to stay in the promotion race, and simply need a lift in their spirits and their confidence before next Sunday's game at home to Chipstead (2pm).
