EBBSFLEET midfielder Neil Barrett was keen to highlight the positive factors from last night’s thrilling 4-4 draw against Crawley Town.

The fact Ebbsfleet failed to win a game in which they dominated did little to dampen the spirits of the battling Barrett.

And although he admitted to there being a disappointed dressing-room, he was sure the overall performance of their attacking play will inspire the team going into this Saturday’s FA Trophy match against Swindon Supermarine.

Barrett spoke highly of new team-mate Guiseppe Sole and praised his debut performance as another plus point in the game.

The Fleet number 14 played with Sole at Woking for a brief spell and knows the new signing's game well.

Barrett has also been impressed with how quickly Sole has fitted in at Stonebridge Road.

He said: “It was was hugely disappointing to play so well and lose concentration late in the game.

“The positives were that we haven't been scoring many goals recently, so to get four in one game is definitely something to work on.

“I played with him at Woking and he seemed to have lost his way a bit there, but he is a very talented player and put on a fantastic performance last night.

“He has done remarkably well really, as he hasn't trained with us but has come straight into the team.

“I was surprised he missed the first free-kick because he is so good, but the second one was great.”

Barrett is certainly up for the cup match against unknown minnows Swindon Supermarine and is adamant the Fleet have learnt some important lessons from last night's game.

He praised the club for gathering increased support for the cup-tie and believes the free-entrance promotion will generate a good atmosphere which can only help and rally Ebbsfleet to victory.

Barrett stipulated defending the Trophy is an added incentive for this season, but the team’s main priority is to start accumulating more league wins and rise up the table.

The plucky midfielder intimated good form goes hand-in-hand with league and cup runs and success on Saturday will hopefully stimulate a period of good form in the Conference.

He explained: “We don't know much about Swindon Supermarine but it will be a great day out for them and we will treat them like any other side.

“We are the holders and they will be looking to beat us.

“The entrance is free and it it's not often the fans get a chance like this, so if we can put on a performance like last night, the supporters should enjoy themselves and we hope they get behind the team.

“It's a cliche but the league is our bread and butter. “We want to start improving in the league first and hopefully this will help us in the Trophy too.”
