A PAIR of young fencers from Bexley took part in the British youth fencing championships at the weekend.
There was medal joy too as Laura Gladdish finished first in the under-12s sabre event, while Poppie Cooper claimed a creditable eighth place in the under-14s category.
Both live in Bexley but are members of Canterbury Fencing Club, which meets not only in Canterbury but also at Kemnal Technical College in Sidcup every Thursday evening, where the girls are trained by coaches Paul Romang and Akos Bodoky.
Mr Romang and Mr Bodoky also both teach at Holy Trinity Lamorbey School in Sidcup where Laura is a Year 6 pupil.
