Rivercray's under-seven football team had a fantastic first-ever season.

They owed that success partly to the goalscoring of a girl Katherine Long one of two at the club and only three in the whole Bexley and District League!

Having performed well in the league throughout the season, it culminated when they won two of their last three tournaments and were runners-up in the other.

The first tournament was run by local rivals Footscray Lions and Rivercray were unbeaten going into the final.

A nailbiting draw in the final resulted in a penalty shootout, which they won.

Rivercray then went with heads held high into Tandridge League side Caterham Pumas' tournament.

Rivercray won every game to once again take home the trophy.

Their final tournament of the season was at Long Lane and they finished with the runners-up trophy.

Rivercray coach Terry Payne said: "I am very proud of all the children who have played for us this season, everyone gets on very well and all want to do well for each other.

"I feel we have a team who can go on to even greater things. We must thank all of our sponsors, WNT communications ltd, Room at the Top Ltd and Apex Lifts, for helping us through our lst season. I'm sure our success will have repaid their faith in us."

The rest of the squad comprised: Jack Rodriguez, Perry Ward, Charlie Payne, Jack Langston, Grace Miles, Joshua Sarracino, Sam Murray, Jack Blake and Joe Burge.
