Cray Wanderers continued their 100% start to the Isthmian South East League season with two goals in the first twenty minutes to beat previously unbeaten Sittingbourne.  Goals from Bradley Pritchard and Michael Power put Cray on the way to victory and a strong rearguard action in the second half preserved the win.

The Wands took the lead in the 12th minute when from a throw in down the right the ball came to Michael Power who went past Reiss Crimmen and from inside the area squared the ball across to Bradley Pritchard who from five yards turned the ball into the net for his first goal for Cray.

Power came close to scoring shortly after but fired just over the top but in the 20th minute scored the second with an excellent piece of finishing from Power who picked the ball up centrally twenty yards from goal, turned past Chris Webber and Lewis Chambers and curled the ball past Patrick Lee into the net for his 103rd career goal for Cray.

After this Junior Dadson saw a looping left wing cross shot dropped just wide then Sean Roberts just past the left post and Dadson put through was denied by a tackle from Sittingbourne keeper Patrick Lee.

The home side threatened when Bola Dawadu saw a shot blocked by Mitchell Nelson and Dan Parkinson following up fired wide.

The second half saw Cray have to knuckle down as the home side came forward and Dawadu came close a couple of times and Ira Jackson was twice denied by good saves from Nick Blue who also saved well from Tommie Fagg.

The Wands had the occasional break and Dadson shot over the bar and from a Pritchard free kick Nelson saw a header from eight yards saved by Lee on the line.

Cray in the end held on and picked up a big three points against a good side in form.  Cray who are second in the early league table unbeaten with five other teams with maximum points are next in action on Saturday, 1st September at home to East Grinstead Town, 3pm kick off.
