Cray Wanderers continued their unbeaten to the Bostik South season but had to be content with a point against Chipstead in lively encounter at Hayes Lane.

Cray were looking to build on the momentum of two straight league wins against a Chipstead side still seeking their first league point but after a first half in which Cray dominated but couldn’t score the visitors from Surrey has a good twenty five minutes after half time and although Karl Dent crashed a shot off the crossbar in the last minute, Chipstead fully deserved their point.

The Wands got off to a very quick start and could have scored four goals in the first 25 minutes with Freddie Parker seeing a shot deflected behind, Bradley Stevenson shooting wide, Karl Dent denied by a fine save by Oliver Pain and Brandon Scott having a header cleared off the line.

Chipstead almost broke and away and scored and Oliver Twum was denied a goal by a brave save from Jordan Carey.

There was a moment of real concern when from an attack down the Cray right, Leon Lalor-Dell hit a ball into the area which caught Dean Carpenter on the side of the head and play was stopped for a few minutes as Carpenter was concussed and had to leave the field of play on a stretcher and to Hospital for treatment.

Before half time, Dent and Lea Dawson saw efforts go over the bar.

The second half was a different story and Chipstead came into the game and were unlucky when Jordan Martin's shot came back off the crossbar. Then Carey excelled again with a double save from Callum Maclean and Keanu Williams.

Cray came closest to winning the game at the end.  First, Bradley Stevenson's turn and shot drew a good save from Pain who then palmed away Dent's free kick.

Finally in stoppage time, Carey' ball forward was headed into the path of Dent who cracked a volley from 25 yards which came back off the top of the crossbar.  All in all though a draw was a fair result.
