Bromley manager Mark Goldberg believes the incredible 7-3 victory over Torquay in the National League on Saturday showed how far his side have improved in the last year.

On an eventful afternoon in Devon, Bromley forward Moses Emannuel bagged a first half hat-trick to provide the Lillywhites with a 3-2 lead at the interval.

Jack Holland, Louis Dennis, Anthony Cook and Ali Fuseini all found the net after the break to complete a 7-3 thrashing of managerless Torquay.

And for Goldberg, who led the club to automatic promotion from the Conference South last season, the emphatic victory was a measure of the club’s progress.

“It was a great performance and I think the only disappointment as a manager is that you only get three points from a result like that,” the Bromley boss said.

“It was a top win, especially as the last time we went to Torquay we were beaten 4-0.

“That shows we’ve come a long way in the last year.

“We were able to bring in three or four players to help get us over the line and that’s also helped us this season.

“The guys have adapted really well to training three days a week.

“It’s almost full-time football and that’s allowed us to work to a system that we all understand and believe in.”

Despite losing three of their first four league games this term, Bromley have recovered well with four straight victories.

The club sit in ninth place and three points off the play-offs going into tonight’s meeting with Kidderminster and Goldberg has been more than satisfied with his club’s start, particularly their efficiency in front of goal.

He said: “I believe that due to the way that we play, we won’t have much problem scoring goals.

“I was very impressed with Moses and to be honest I think it’s been coming.

“We need to adapt to the level and so far I think we have done that well.

“The belief in the squad is there and our confidence is up.

“We’ve learned from some tough lessons last season and begun this campaign well.

“The first aim is obviously to avoid relegation but anything’s possible, we just need to take every game as it comes.

“Unfortunately in football, though, things can change very quickly and as a team we must not let this result go to our head.”
