VCD Athletic's FA Vase dream must wait after tomorrow's fifth round tie at Oakwood has been called off because of a waterlogged pitch.
An FA referee made the pitch inspection this morning at 10am and, according to VCD boss Martin Ford, only had to walk 10 yards before declaring the surface unplayable.
It means the match against Bideford, who were waiting on the decision before setting off from Devon, had been rearranged for February 17.
Ford said: "It is an absolute nightmare. We were getting geared up for this one-off match and now must keep our fingers crossed for next Saturday, although the weather forecast does not look too good.
"The only consolation is we will be in the hat on Monday and if we come out with a home draw, it could make the match even bigger."
