MOHAMED Eisa’s 90th minute free-kick winner for Dartford knocked holders Charlton Athletic out of the Kent Senior Cup at Princes Park last night.

The visitors were essentially the Charlton Athletic development squad and had the lion’s share of the play with neat passing and probing runs off the ball.

Dartford were hoping the tie qualified as the one-game suspension handed down to skipper Elliot Bradbrook for his five yellow cards accumulated thus far this season.

However, the Football Association deemed this tie didn’t rate for one-match ban purposes.

Judging by the respective team selections, they had a valid point.

One would presume, however, had yellow cards been waved in last night’s encounter at Princes Park, they would have still counted.

Effective and entertaining as the visitors were playing, Dartford, with more than a sprinkling of academy and fringe players in their own ranks, refused to be drawn out of position.

Tony Burman made Ryan Hayes captain for the night and also gave full games to squad players Jay Porter, Ronnie Vint, Max Cornhill, George Monger and Uche ‘Dave’ Ibemere, as well as Deren Ibrahim in goal.

The crowd of 482 had plenty to be pleased about, with the final 10 minutes being crucial.

In this period Dartford took control and scored the vital winner in the 90th minute when Eisa curled a free-kick from the edge of the area beyond Dillon Phillips’ left shoulder to book Darts a quarter-final tie at home to Dover Athletic.

Other quarter final ties are: Bromley v Hythe Town, Tunbridge Wells v Ebbsfleet, Whitstable Town v Maidstone United.
