EBBSFLEET’S new owner Doctor Abdulla Al-Humaidi has urged fans of the club to keep supporting the side through their tricky start to the season.

After taking over the club from MyFootballClub this summer, Dr Al-Humaidi saw his side play for the first time last week.

Unfortunately for the Kuwaiti, he witnessed a disappointing 2-0 loss to Chelmsford City on Tuesday and Saturday’s uneventful 0-0 draw against Boreham Wood.

Despite the pre-season optimism the takeover produced at Stonebridge Road, the Fleet have picked up six draws from their opening nine games and sit 15th in the Conference South table.

When asked what his message to the fans would be, Dr Al-Humaidi replied: “Continue your support of the club.

“We have the highest attendances in this league and we’re proud of it.

“It shows fans are loyal and, at the end of the day, it’s their club.

“I’ve enjoyed the atmosphere this week, if not the results.

“I was disappointed on Tuesday against Chelmsford, but it was a much better performance against Boreham Wood and I enjoyed the match a lot more.”

It was also the first time Dr Al-Humaidi had been to the ground since extensive refurbishments took place over the close season.

“It’s my eighth time to Stonebridge Road”, he said.

“Every time I come here, I find something has improved.

“I’m really pleased in the way the club have handled the refurbishments.

“League football is the plan for the club, eventually.

“I don’t know when, as it has to be a gradual move up the ladder.

“We are setting up a youth academy and setting up all the backbones the club require.”
