A second-half strike from Romaine Sawyers was enough to give Brentford their first home win of the season and leave Millwall winless on the road.

Lee Gregory missed a late penalty to draw the Lions level in a close-fought encounter at Griffin Park.

Here is how News Shopper rated Millwall’s players…

Jordan Archer - 8 - Made a stunning first-half save to deny Romaine Sawyers. A spectator for much of the second-half, but helpless with the goal.

Conor McLaughlin - 7 - Had a really good battle with Josh Clarke. One of the tougher opponents he has faced this season. Despite Clarke offering blistering pace, McLaughlin more than held his own against him putting in some vital tackles and interceptions. Struck a post in the second-half.

Shaun Hutchinson - 7 - Looked comfortable, despite missing his regular centre-back partner and felt he should have won his side a penalty late in the second-half when he seemed to have been clipped in the box.

Jake Cooper - 7 - Encouraging display. Stepped in for the injured Byron Webster and won almost every header in his absence.

James Meredith - 6 - Not one of his better displays and as a result was sacrificed midway through the second-half for Elliott.

Jed Wallace - 8 - Will be wondering how he didn’t manage to get himself on the scoresheet. Was denied time after time by Bentley. Won the penalty. Man of the match.

Ryan Tunnicliffe - 6 - Struggled to get into the game, looked uncomfortable and failed to give Millwall anything in the final third.

George Saville - 6 - Probably his worse performance of the season. Sloppy in possession.

Shane Ferguson - 6 - Like he always does, worked extremely hard. Switched with Wallace and played on the right for periods, but didn’t have any effect for Millwall offensively and his display was summed up by a needless booking.

Aiden O’Brien - 6 - Didn’t have the same impact he does on the left, struggled to have an impact on the game and missed a golden chance, volleying over from close-range.

Lee Gregory - 6 - Starved of service for long periods and most certainly missed Morison. Much better second-half and should have earned Millwall a point but his late penalty was saved by Bentley, much to his frustration as he had curled the ball home after Lee Probert pointed to the spot.
