Charlton made it back-to-back league wins after beating Bury 1-0 at Gigg Lane.

Mark Marshall’s second-half strike was enough to see off League One’s bottom club.

The result moves Charlton back into the top six after Rotherham and Portsmouth dropped points.

Karl Robinson made two changes to the side that beat Oldham with Anfernee Dijksteel and Ben Reeves coming in for Patrick Bauer and Ricky Holmes.

Holmes, who was seen in Sheffield last night, is expected to complete a move to the Blades soon.

Josh Magennis, who hasn't scored in 13 games now, had the best chances of the first-half. First, he beat his man to fire straight at Bury goalkeeper Connor Ripley.

He then latched on to Ben Amos’ punt but couldn't get enough on his chip to properly test Ripley - the Northern Ireland striker should have done better.

Inbetween Magennis’ wastefulness, James Hanson headed a Harry Bunn cross wide.

The Addicks continued to create openings when Ben Reeves’ delivery was directed on to the bar by Shakers defender Nathan Cameron on 33 minutes. It was the closest both sides came to breaking the deadlock in a drab first-half.

Charlton failed to pick up from where they left off after the break and Stephy Mavididi’s long-range effort, which went high and wide, summed up the frustration in the Addicks camp.

But the breakthrough came thanks to some brilliant skill from Joe Aribo in the 63rd minute. The young midfielder made space for himself in the box to cut the ball back to Marshall, who scored his first league goal for the club.

And the Addicks should've doubled their lead moments later after Mavididi went on one of his trademark runs and beat two defenders but saw his shot tipped on to the post by Ripley.

Bury, who haven't scored in seven league games, could have equalised late on but Josh Laurent sliced his shot wide from eight yards.
