Gillingham boss Steve Lovell wants to take advantage of Charlton’s injury crisis today.

The Addicks were without several first-teamers throughout December which affected their form.

Charlton could have some players back for the Gills clash, but they’re unlikely to be match fit.

Lovell, who spent six years coaching at Charlton’s academy, said: “It will be a good ding-dong battle.

“Our away form has been good, Karl [Robinson] will know about us, and I know most of their players. It may be a good time to play them. They’ve got a lot of injuries which doesn’t help.

“But I’ve read they may have two or three back against us.

“It will be a very tough match. They haven’t won for seven games so they’ll be desperate to turn that around. We’ll have a go.

“Charlton is a good club, from the bottom of the academy where I worked for six years, all the way through.”

Former Charlton star Scott Wagstaff is a doubt for the game with a hamstring injury.
