Karl Robinson believes Naby Sarr could play up front for Charlton.
Sarr played as a striker in the dying minutes of Charlton’s 1-0 defeat to Portsmouth in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday evening – and nearly scored.
Josh Magennis and Joe Dodoo are the Addicks’ only senior strikers, but Robinson could call on the 6ft 5ins defender if his side are chasing a game.
He said: “It’s been something, and people might laugh at me saying this, it’s been something I’ve been questioning for a lot of the season.
“I’ve looked behind me and thought he’s 6ft 5ins, he’s technically excellent, and he can run. It’s something we might even use in the league campaign.
“He’ll certainly be a threat up there. I don’t think there will be more powerful strikers out there. He’s really endearing himself to everybody at the moment. You heard the fans clap him today.
“The man has been an amazing person since he walked in. He’s been polite, he’s worked his socks off.
“The problem I have is Patrick Bauer and Jason Pearce have been sensational, Ezri Konsa has come in and he’s been great. When Naby has come in he’s been equally as good.
“But over a period of time, the players have done well so it’s hard for him to get that starting berth at the moment. But I’m really happy for him - and he might be a hidden weapon for us.”
