NIGEL Reo-Coker will not be joining Charlton despite hooking up with the club for training this week.
The midfielder has been without a club since quitting Bolton at the end of last season at the age of just 28.
A national newspaper earlier this week claimed Reo-Coker was on the brink of resuming his career with the Addicks after they let him train at Sparrows Lane but manager Chris Powell confirmed today he has no intention of signing the former Aston Villa and West Ham player.
“I very much doubt it because I’m led to believe he has other options,” said the Valley boss.
“We know how these things pan out but I must admit at the moment our intention isn’t to try and sign him.
“Nigel has been training with us just to keep him fit basically.
“He has been without a club and as a favour to him, because he has known myself and Alex Dyer over the years, he has been in and just trained with the development squad.
“I think people are trying to put two and two together.
“Basically he has just come in and has been training on his own.
“We’ve just allowed him to do some ball work, that is all.”
