WHAT Peter Taylor really needed against table-topping Cardiff City was a win.

Firstly he wanted to gift chairman Simon Jorden three points after his purchase of the Selhurst Park freehold.

Secondly, it may have gone some way to settling rifts growing in the dressing room.

However, Stuart Green's first goal of the season was not enough as Michael Chopra and Ricardo Scimeca earned the Bluebirds all three points.

Taylor has patched up the rifts involving Clinton Morrison, Shefki Kuqi and Michael Hughes.

He said: "We did have a falling out but I'd be more nervous about players who were happy to be left out or substituted.

"I spoke to Clinton and he is fine, it was the same with Michael and Shefki when he was not starting."

Last night's visitors, WBA, were being watched by new manager Tony Mowbray and News Shopper's Michael Reilly.

But at the time of going to press, Taylor was confident of bouncing back.

He said: "The match gives us a chance to quickly remedy Saturday's defeat and hope-fully we can get back into winning ways.

"They have a new manager and are in a very good position after a big win at Ipswich Town.

"It was an outstanding result for them so they will be coming to us in confident form and looking to impress their new boss."

He added: "We know it's going to be a difficult match but the players have good spirit and commitment so they will be looking to fight back tonight.

"West Brom are one of the teams fancied for promotion this season but I have no doubt with the players we have here we can bounce back from Saturday's game and we're looking to do it."
