CALVIN Andrew has returned to Crystal Palace from Millwall after his loan spell was prematurely ended by the Eagles.

The striker was due to stay with the Lions on loan until early in the new year but the departure of James Vaughan back to Everton prompted Palace manager George Burley to move quickly and bring Andrew back to SE25.

Vaughan’s temporary stay with the Eagles came to an end after Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Hull and although Burley admitted his disappointment at losing the striker, he hinted then a recall for Andrew was on the cards.

The Palace manager said: “We will miss James, I had a good chat with him yesterday and I’m very pleased with him.

“He has enjoyed his spell here and certainly we will look at it in January.

“The Christmas and New Year period is a hectic time and for the time being we are going to have to get on with the squad we have got.

“There is no secret we were trying to bring in another striker before the window closed last month but we didn’t manage to do that, so we will have to think again.

“Kenny Jackett was aware about the situation with Calvin Andrew.

“I told him we were trying to bring a striker in but if we didn’t, it might be a case of bringing Calvin back.

“He has had a couple of games for Millwall and it will be an option to bring him back.”
