CRYSTAL Palace Triathlon Club won the Triathlete’s World British triathlon event of the year award at Leicester on November 13.
Judges awarded the prize because the race is a regular fixture on the calendars of triathletes from around the country and is widely held as one of the most sustainable and environmentally friendly events in the UK.
The award was collected on behalf of the Crystal Palace TC by Karen Ayers, John Petrides, Bruce Ayers and junior member Adam Efrat.
Mr Petrides said: “It’s fantastic, I had no idea.
“It goes to show that all the hard work put into organising the event has now been rewarded.”
Mrs Ayers was also at the awards to collect her national volunteer of the year award.
She can be seen at the annual triathlon in her race director bib manning registration, processing all race entries and answering pre-race queries.
