CHARLTON’S four goals at Carlisle United on Saturday means the Addicks are now just two goals away from scoring the 5,000th league goal in the club’s history.

The Addicks led 3-0 at one point early in the second half but Carlisle fought back to level the scores in a thrilling game before Paul Benson grabbed a dramatic stoppage time winner.

THE Valley will celebrate a special academy day on Saturday as a series of events take place to increase the profile of the Charlton KRBS academy prior to the League One match against Sheffield Wednesday (3pm).

Around 140 members of the club’s youth system, from U9 to U18, will parade around the pitch prior to kick-off, while a special skills exercise will take place at half-time.

The U18s were without a match last weekend, but face West Ham United at Sparrows Lane on Saturday (11am).

CHARLTON could come up against former left-back Grant Basey when the Addicks play League Two Barnet in the first round of the FA Cup on the weekend of November 6.

The Charlton youth product left The Valley this summer and eventually signed for the Bees.

The defender featured as England defeated Sweden 3-0, drew 1-1 with host nation Georgia and then beat Poland 1-0 on Saturday.
