KENNY Jackett has flatly denied misleading reports which wrongly claimed Hull City had tabled a bid for striker Steve Morison.

It was suggested elsewhere yesterday the Tigers had already made an initial £600,000 offer to land last season's top scorer.

However, Jackett confirmed there had been no official approach for the player and was adamant he wouldn't welcome one either.

He said: "It is news to me. There has been no bid made by Hull City or anybody else.

"First off, we are trying to establish ourselves going up into a new division and a good division.

"There is no financial pressure to sell any of our players and quite frankly I'm not looking to.

"I'm not looking at that and I wouldn't welcome any bid for any of my players, I'm looking to build and improve and we are going to need to do that.

"So if it was a centre forward, the answer would undoubtedly be no."

However, Jackett did reveal one striker who is seemingly on the way out is Gary Alexander, who is discussing a permanent switch to Brentford this weekend.

He added: "We've had a bid from Brentford, so we are just in talks at the moment.

"Myself and Gary spoke this morning and felt the best thing would be for him to miss out this particular game while we have discussions.

"We will see. It isn't cut and dried but we have some discussions to make next week as well."
