MILLWALL had substitute Marvin Williams to thank for keeping alive their slim hopes of Championship survival.

The youngster scored the winner with almost the last kick of the match leaving the Lions just two points behind Sheffield Wednesday and safety.

It is the team's first win since January 2 and coincides with the debut of loan signing Colin Cameron.

However, despite an impressive display it was Cameron who was replaced, much to the fans' frustration, as boss Dave Tuttle looked to win the game.

He said: "I made the decision and luckily it worked. Colin played 90 minutes for Wolves reserves on Thursday and did not train yesterday.

"He is only here for a month and we want to look after him. We did not want to burn him out in his first game."

He added: "Marvin and Barry Cogan came on and livened the game up. With the effort we put in, I thought we deserved a result.

"I did not want Colin coming off with an injury as we want him available for as many games as possible.

"I realise the fans' frustration but I have got to take everything into account and I felt I made the right decision."

Millwall had taken the lead through Ben May on 32 minutes when he beat Marlon Beresford for his third goal in three games.

The Hatters were level a minute after the break through Chris Coyne before Williams' last-gasp winner.

Tuttle said: "It did not look like it was going to come but once again the boys battled hard and it is all I can ask for."

Millwall travel to Ipswich Town on Saturday and Joe Royle's team have lost just one league match this year.

The Tractor Boys are ninth in the Championship with an outside chance of reaching the play-offs.
