THE 2006 FA Women's Cup Final will take place at The Den on May 1. This year's prestigious final will also be broadcast live on BBC1. Lions chief executive Ken Brown said: "We are delighted we will be staging the final at The Den. Millwall have a proud tradition of promoting women's football and indeed Millwall Lionesses were winners of this competition in 1991 and 1997. We have had the honour of hosting the final previously in 1998 and are looking forward to a magnificent occasion in May." In the 1997 final a goal by Lou Waller secured a 1-0 win for Millwall Lionesses against Wembley. Lionesses player-manager Pru Buckley, who starred in the 1997 triumph, believes staging the final in SE16 will provide a real boost for women's football in south London. She said: "Our club has never been stronger in terms of the number of girls and young women currently playing and it is great so many of them have the chance to see the top players in action at Millwall."

CARL Asaba's bid to return to first team action at Cardiff City last night suffered a setback when he experienced further pain and discomfort during a training session at the weekend. Assistant manager Tony Burns said: "It is a blow to Carl and for us. It looks like his comeback will take a little longer than hoped." Barry Hayles is still some weeks away from being ready for a return while Josh Simpson, Barry Cogan and Mark Phillips all remain on the injury list.

MILLWALL have signed West Brom winger Lloyd Dyer on a free transfer. The 23-year-old Dyer played 25 times for West Brom. The Baggies will get 50 per cent of any transfer fee should Millwall sell Dyer.
