SAM Sodje will return to Charlton this week after Nigeria’s 1-0 last-gasp win against Mozambique on Sunday.

The defender has missed the last two matches against Barnet and Oldham Athletic, but wasn’t named in the Super Eagles’ final squad for the World Cup qualifier.

Nigeria’s last qualification game takes place on November 14, so Sodje could miss the league game against Milton Keynes Dons.

ORGANISATIONS dedicated to tackling street violence will head to The Valley on Thursday night for a high-profile fundraising event in memory of Addicks fan Robert Knox.

The charity dinner is being sponsored by the Daily Mirror in support of Charlton’s groundbreaking Street Violence Ruins Lives initiative and the newspaper’s own campaign.

FORMER Charlton chief executive Peter Varney last week joined the Addicks plc board as a non-executive director.

He will assist the board in securing new investment for the club. Meanwhile, Richard Hatter has replaced his father, Sir Maurice, on the plc board, and will continue to represent Sir Maurice’s interests.

A SECOND match against Southampton and reunion with former Charlton boss Alan Pardew is on the cards in the southern quarter-final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy after Saturday’s draw.

FRAZER Richardson and Lloyd Sam shrugged off injuries to play against Oldham Athletic on Saturday, with right-back Richardson passing a late fitness test.

Jose Semedo returned to training last Friday and should be available for selection on Saturday, while striker Leon McKenzie made his Addicks debut.

JORDAN Cousins could appear for England U16s in the Victory Shield on Thursday night.

The Greenwich-born 15-year-old is in the 18-strong party for the match against Wales at Yeovil Town’s Huish Park and the game is being screened live on Sky (7.45pm).

CHARLTON last week learned of the death of former forward Alex McRae, who appeared for the club in the late 1940s.

The striker joined then FA Cup holders Charlton from Heart of Midlothian in June 1947 and scored eight goals in 46 league and cup games over the following two seasons.

He died last Thursday morning, aged 89.

LEWIS Perkins continued his recent scoring form, but Charlton’s U18s were beaten 5-1 away at Fulham on Saturday.
