MIGUEL Angel Llera became Charlton’s first signing of the summer when the powerful Spanish centre-back joined the Addicks on a free transfer on Monday.

The 29-year-old left League One rivals Milton Keynes Dons at the end of last season after making 37 appearances for the Dons and has signed a two-year contract in SE7.

CHARLTON’S first-team squad returned to work last Thursday as pre-season training kicked off in earnest.

The Addicks were out in the Sparrows Lane sunshine, dusting off the cobwebs and taking part in strength and fitness tests.

IPSWICH Town are Charlton’s sole Valley visitors ahead of the new League One campaign and supporters can now secure their place at the pre-season friendly on July 28 (7.45pm).

Tickets are now on sale for the clash with the Tractor Boys, with the lower west stand, the east stand and the Jimmy Seed stand open.

Adults can watch for £10, while under-21s and over-60s can get in for £5.

The club is also offering a special Millennium Suite hospitality package for just £25.

YOUNG midfielder Alex Stavrinou put pen to paper on his first professional contract with Charlton last Friday.

The 18-year-old engine-roomer, who was told he would be offered terms towards the end of last season, has signed a one-year deal.

HUNDREDS of Charlton season-ticket holders will watch the Valley action from a different vantage point next term.

Fans took advantage of the club’s annual swap week, which ended on Friday, to secure a different seat in SE7.

Supporters can still watch each and every minute of the Valley action in 2009/10 by buying a season ticket, however.

Most adult and all under-18 prices are reduced by £50, while under-11 seats are only £49 (£2.13 per game).

SOUTHEND United will host Charlton on a Friday night in February after the League One clash was switched on police advice.

The Addicks’ first journey to Roots Hall since Boxing Day 1996 will now take place a day earlier than scheduled on February 26 (7.45pm).

CHARLTON will again be hoisting the Addicks flag across Greenwich, Bexley, Bromley and Kent over the summer, with the usual free mixture of football and fun at numerous events, including the Danson Festival this weekend.

The event at Danson Park, Welling, always a high point of the summer for supporters, takes place between 10am and 6pm on Saturday and Sunday and brings free football, fun and Addicks publicity material to youngsters.

THE Valley Superstore closed its doors for two days this week as part of the club’s pre-season preparations.

Essential stocktaking means the SE7 outlet was not open today and tomorrow, but business will resume at 10am on Wednesday.

The Superstore is open from 10am to 5pm weekdays and 10am to 1pm on Saturdays during the summer months.

JULY marks the start of the summer series of holidays run by the Charlton Community Trust.

Bookings are now being taken for the sessions, with no fewer than 61 arranged from July 13 until the end of August across Bexley, Greenwich and Kent for youngsters aged between five and 15.
