CRYSTAL Palace manager Neil Warnock was frustrated with his side's lack of clear chances in the 1-0 defeat to Charlton.

He added the victorious players "should be disgusted with themselves" for waiting so long to put in such a good effort.

Matthew Spring's first-half strike ended the Addicks' long run of league games without a win, and despite spending much of the second half camped in the Charlton half, the Eagles were unable to test Rob Elliott in the home goal.

Warnock said: "I thought they had one opportunity. I thought we had enough positions to create more but just need that little bit of quality, I'm hoping I can get someone in before the deadline.

"We're a bit predictable at times but there's nothing else change it in the squad.

"There were not many opportunities. Probably Victor Moses' header should have been a bit better but he's not had that many games, so it's understandable.

"We had loads of opportunities to gets crosses in. Why we want to play six passes when it's obvious to me Alan Lee can beat Murty at the back post, I'll never know, but that's life."

Warnock also launched a stinging attack on Charlton's players.

He said: "I think you should look at the other side.

"They should be disgusted with themselves. To put effort in like that, if they'd done it all season, done it for Pardew, they wouldn't be in that position.

"They're all big earners. They should look at themselves in the mirror because they don't play Crystal Palace every week."

Warnock added: "I thought we were just a bit of quality short of dominating the game.

"We let them get a grip, they got the goal with a mistake and that was it, then it was a lesson in time wasting.

"I thought we should have played 15 minutes at the end."

After criticising the referees of Palace's previous two games, Warnock had a little praise for official Stuart Attwell, although the manager was unhappy about his alleged time-wasting tactics by the Addicks.

He said: "I thought he had a decent game if I'm honest, it wasn't an easy game.

"I thought he missed one or two. The one on Neil Danns on the edge of the box with four minutes to go was the worst tackle in the game and he's missed it completely.

"He's got to keep an eye on the ball when the goalie's taking the p***.

"I thought he did well. Good job the kid on Saturday wasn't refereeing, Michael Oliver."

Teenage full back Nathaniel Clyne was rested from the 16-man squad, with Warnock opting for the experience of Danny Butterfield in a heated south London derby.

Warnock said: "All the other games he [Clyne] can be involved in. Danny Butterfield did quite well tonight."
