TWO goals in eight second-half minutes meant more away day misery for Charlton as they lost at Preston.
The Addicks had taken the lead in the 18th minute Youl Mawene fouled Luke Varney in the box.
Andy Gray converted the penalty for a 1-0 lead.
Alan Pardew tinkered with his side going into the break, switching to a 4-5-1 formation as Nicky Bailey tucked inside and Varney took a position wide on the right.
It was from this position that Varney almost doubled the lead four minutes before the break.
Collecting a pass from Holland, the striker forced his way along the edge of the box before letting fly with a rasping drive which hit the post.
Neil Mellor shot into the roof of the net after a ricochet off Mark Hudson to level the scores in the 59th minute.
Eight minutes later, Barry Nicholson put a shot through Nicky Weaver's legs to give the home side the lead.
The result leaves Charlton 11th in the table with maximum points from their home games but nothing to show for their travels.
The Addicks face table-topping Wolves at The Valley on September 13.
