The international break came at the right time for Millwall after suffering a shock loss to Huddersfield in the Championship.

While some of the squad got a rest, four players were with their international teams.

Tom Bradshaw, Charlie Cresswell, George Saville and Romain Esse were all on international duty for their respective countries.

Tom Bradshaw, who has enjoyed a good season for the Lions, was with the Wales squad as they enjoyed a solid couple of games without Gareth Bale for the first time. He was not required in the home win against Latvia, but came on in Croatia as they grabbed a famous draw in the 93rd minute.

It was a mixed bag for the England U21s. Charlie Cresswell started at centre-back against France, in which they secured a clean sheet against a strong side, but did not play in the 2-1 defeat to Croatia.

George Saville started for Northern Ireland against San Marino, which ended as a comfortable 2-0 win for the Irish. He then came on after 79 minutes against Finland in a 1-0 loss to the Scandinavian nation.

Romain Esse, who has made seven appearances for Millwall in the Championship, represented the England U18s twice and played for 30 minutes in both games. The two games were contrasting results, losing the first 3-0 to Belgium and then defeating Switzerland 3-1 in the second game.

Attentions now turn to the all-important race for a play-off place, which starts as they take on West Brom on Saturday (April 1).
