For all die-hard Addicks lovers this is undoubtably a far more important question than who is eventually going to be the United Kingdom’s next Prime Minister following Boris Johnson.

We are all aware that the likes of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Mark Warburton, Lee Bowyer and Neil Lennon, amongst others, have been in the reckoning. They have all been talked about and mentioned as prime candidates.

The faithful however that congregate on the terraces week in week out might relish the chance to see a lesser well known individual step in and guide the team back to success, conquering all.

News Shopper: Aston Villa assistant manager Michael BealeAston Villa assistant manager Michael Beale

Michael Beale, Steven Gerrard’s number two might be just the person. He was influential in the glory manifested at Glasgow Rangers.

He now plays a pivotal role in the backroom staff, moulding a young Aston Villa side that will challenge the elite in British football in future years to come.

Beale can also bring his Premier League links to the post and has a Charlton background behind him already.

On the other hand, there is the Exeter City manager Matt Taylor who, actually, wore the Charlton shirt during his playing career.

He has recently taken his squad from League 2 and into League 1 so knows how to win and achieve victory.

Whoever is given the opportunity they will be blessed with a lot of young talent on the Addicks books at present.
