ADDICKS boss Johnnie Jackson is hoping Elliot Lee's goal against Wigan can be the catalyst for the forward to start scoring more regularly.
Lee joined Charlton last summer on loan from Luton Town and so far has struggled to be a consistent goal scorer.
The 27-year-old notched his third goal in League One against Wigan on the weekend during his 23rd appearance in the competition.
However, the goal was not enough for the Addicks as they would go on to lose the game 2-1.
Although the boss is happy for Lee to be back amongst the goals and with his current injury issues upfront is hoping that the attacker can continue to contribute.
Johnnie Jackson told News Shopper: “Absolutely yeah, I am really pleased for Elliot (Lee).
“Obviously he came out of the side for a few games and came back in and impacted the game. I have been encouraging him and all my midfield players, especially the attacking ones, to start contributing with goals.
“I think it is really important that someone as good as Elliot needs to be scoring more than three.
“Someone as good as Alex Gilbey who gets into positions needs to be adding goals, Albie Morgan needs to add goals to his game.
“We can not just rely on the forwards. It is something that we work on a lot and that we talk about a lot.
“As someone that played in the position, I am often speaking to them about it and they are all aware of what I want from that role.
“They all have the license to get in the box exactly as Elliot did against Wigan. Hopefully, that is the start for a few more.”
