Victory for Welling United over Concord Rangers moved them away from the foot of the table.

Che Krabbendam and Mason Saunders-Henry scored the goals that gave them just their second win in 2021.

There had already been chances at either end when Welling went ahead in the tenth minute. Having initially lost possession, Dipo Akinyemi won it back and found Che Krabbendam. The attacking midfielder exchanged passes with Ben Allen and burst through to slot it beyond Myles Roberts.

It might have been two soon after when Allen was brought down in the penalty area by Billy Cracknell but Roberts went the right way to save from Akinyemi.

Temi Babalola had a header cleared off the line by Olu Durojaiye before Krabbendam received a near post pass from Akinyemi and shot towards the bottom corner. Roberts again came to Concord’s rescue by pushing it onto the post and out.

Allen had a shot saved by the outstanding Roberts after good work by Akinyemi then Roberts made a great save from Allen after Krabbendam slipped through an inch perfect pass. Once more, Roberts was called upon to keep out Allen who had intercepted a throw in before shooting towards the bottom corner.

Babalola headed over from a corner just before the break but Welling were good value for their first half lead.

After the break, Bradley Pearce headed wide from a Durojaiye free kick before Roberts made another good save from Allen following good work by Akinyemi and Krabbendam.

Daniel Green fired a first time shot wide at the end of a sweeping Concord move then Lamar Reynolds was sent clear but his chip clipped the post on the way out. Cracknell crossed but Green headed wide as the Beachboys enjoyed a good spell.

Aron Pollock should have levelled when getting on the end of Babalola’s flick on but somehow he managed to knock it over from two yards out. Jake Pegg sliced a shot across the face of goal then Teddy Perkins threw himself bravely into the path of a Reynolds shot.

Eventually, they equalised when fortune favoured them. Robb Crane crossed and Bradley Pearce’s attempted clearing header flew into the back of his own net.

Murphy Mahoney rushed out of his goal to clear with a diving header before Allen again came close only for Roberts to save.

Saunders-Henry came on as a substitute for his Welling debut and curled over before Crane fired across the face of goal.

Joseph Roachie fired over the angle of post and bar for Concord but it was Welling who scored the winner when Saunders-Henry found space on the edge of the area and fired low into the bottom corner.
